Classical Pilates is the system of exercises created and taught by Joseph Hubertus Pilates. These exercises were designed to strengthen one’s powerhouse (which includes the core and gluteals), lengthen the spinal column, and tone muscles both big and small.
The system of exercises Pilates created, in the order which he created them, builds on itself in the fact that it is a system.
As Pilates himself said “In ten sessions you will feel the difference, in twenty sessions you will see the difference, in thirty sessions you will have a whole new body.”
Sheridan's passion for finding physical and spiritual balance through Pilates began when she was 15 and started to utilize classical Pilates mat classes and yoga classes. From then on she became hooked, and was an avid classical Pilates student culminating in a year of rigorous training in Joe Pilates’ classical method, which for her embraced combining the beauty, flow, and core training of Pilates with a focus on the individual body’s needs to create tremendous mental and physical balance and fitness.

As Pilates himself said “In ten sessions you will feel the difference, in twenty sessions you will see the difference, in thirty sessions you will have a whole new body.” In Pilates, we use controlled movements, primarily focused in your core to build body strength, flexibility and endurance. It's a body conditioning routine that won't result in bulky muscles. Instead, the movements serve to lengthen your muscles as it strengthens them.
As a newcomer to Pilates, I didn't really know what to expect at first. Let me tell you that I absolutely loved every minute of it! Ascend is an amazing facility with lots of space and very clean. Sheridan was an incredible teacher. She was super helpful in every way possible and made me feel confident even though it was my first class ever.
